Studio Maternity Session in and around Basel

This spring, I hosted a very special Mother’s Day giveaway — a heartfelt idea I had been dreaming about for quite some time. The intention was simple, yet deeply meaningful: to gift one mama a full, pampering photography experience, complete with professional hair and makeup and a beautiful, light-filled studio setting to truly celebrate her glow.
When Laura’s name was drawn, I had a feeling it would be something special — and it was. What began as a “mommy and me” session beautifully evolved into a maternity shoot, as Laura is expecting her second child. It turned into the most perfect way to honor both the mother she is and the new life she’s about to welcome.
We met in a stunning daylight studio just outside of Basel, in Liestal. This space has quickly become one of my favorites. With its Mediterranean-inspired interior, soft tones, natural textures, and beautiful natural lights, the studio has a soul of its own. It’s incredibly versatile, perfect not only for maternity but also for “mommy and me” portraits, and even small family sessions — especially during these unpredictable spring months when outdoor sessions can be very unpredictable because of the weather.
As much as my heart beats for outdoor sessions — capturing golden hour light in nature, and barefoot moments in fields — there is something special about being in this indoor space. It allows for slower moments, cozy posing and cuddling, and styling that can be tailored to each mama’s personality and vision.
This session with Laura reminded me of why I do what I do. Maternity photography isn’t just about the bump — it’s about celebrating this powerful, fleeting chapter in a woman’s life. I’m so grateful to Laura for trusting me to capture her story.
